That's a pretty pathetic list, isn't it? in front of a crowd of mostly bored fans an announced 27,486; Cubs fans in the crowd tried to hide people who couldn't believe the Pirates swept a series people who mostly left early to get out of the heat all of the above. That's another pretty pathetic list, isn't it?. The Cubs' Matt Garza pitched well for a couple of innings pitched poorly for a couple of innings pitched well AND poorly once again, made a throwing error all of the above. We're on a roll with pathetic lists, aren't we?. The Cubs' offense hit very little Gatorade coolers in the dugout the road, Jack, and didn't come back no more the bar on the plane back to Chicago all of the above. This is getting worse, isn't it.. Meanwhile, the Pirates had their first three-run homer of the season ... by a player who started the game hitting .204. ... had a two-RBI single from a player named "Gorkys" ... scored 10 runs for the first time since May 28, 2011... ... True fact. That was also against the Cubs. . The Cubs' bullpen ... blew up again ... turning a 6-0 deficit (continued) ... into a 10-0 deficit, and so ... Rafael Dolis could be headed back to Iowa.. The Cubs had the lead in this series (a) not at all (b) once (c) twice (d) three times The answer is (a); the Cubs have had the lead only once in the losing streak. The Cubs hit into (a) two double plays (b) three double plays (c) four double plays (d) ten double plays aw, c'mon, Al. You can't hit into 10 double plays in a nine-inning game. You're right. It just seemed that way. The answer is (a).Blake Parker threw a scoreless seventh inning. This is important because it proved that a Cubs reliever could actually do that it kept Parker in the bullpen for another few games it surprised everyone because Cubs relievers don't do that all of the above. Kind of.. In the eighth inning, Blake Lalli singled, getting a hit in his home town. ... and then Starlin Castro hit a two-run homer. Wait, you weren't looking for another choice here, were you? That's what they did. In the ninth inning, the Cubs got the tying run to the plate! No they didn't. You made that up! OK, I admit I made it up. But if I hadn't... there wouldn't have been too many good things in this recap.. After the game, Theo Epstein traded Jeff Baker to the Rays for a PTBNL traded Reed Johnson to the Marlins for two PTBNL traded the entire team for a pickup team from a Horner Park T-ball league all of the above sold his Wrigleyville home and moved back to Boston The Cubs have won a) no games in Pittsburgh this year b) one game in Pittsburgh this year c) two games in Pittsburgh this year d) three games in Pittsburgh this year The answer is (a). The Cubs haven't won games much of anywhere this year.. Meanwhile, the Phillies' Roy Halladay left the game Sunday after two innings for only the third time in his career. Who cares? This is a Cubs recap. Interesting. What's wrong with Halladay? Who knows? The Phillies, though, got crushed by the Cardinals. And now, back to Cubs content.. The Cubs still don't have the worst record in baseball by themselves because ... the Twins lost to the Royals. ... and the Padres lost to the Mets. ... but they're getting close. And the Padres come to Chicago on Monday!. Manager Dale Sveum's comments after today's game included: "Hey, Garz threw pretty well after the first homer." (Whoops, sorry. That one's left over from the last manager.) "Pat Listach didn't mess up sending runners today!" "I think I have another kid graduating from high school. See ya!". On Monday afternoon at Wrigley Field, the Cubs will send Travis Wood to the mound, and he will... ... win the game against the Padres ... by throwing a shutout. Oh, come on, Al, who are you kidding? If the Cubs can't beat the Pirates....
