Sorry to report that everyone lost tonight. Even the All-Star teams. But it's easier to report that news when the Cubs have just taken two from the White Sox.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs were late for the Round Rock Express (Rangers), 6-3.

Rodrigo Lopez started, went five innings and took the loss. Lopez allowed six runs on seven hits, two of which were home runs. Lopez walked four and struck out two.

Iowa banged out 13 hits, but only managed three runs tonight. They even had the bases loaded in the ninth inning with one out and failed to score.

Third baseman Josh Vitters hit his tenth home run of the season tonight. It was a solo home run in the sixth inning. Vitters was 1 for 5.

Shortstop Alfredo Amezaga was 3 for 5 with a double. Right fielder Dave Sappelt went 2 for 4 with a double.

DH Ty Wright went 2 for 4 with an RBI double in the second inning. He also stole a base and scored a run. DH Blake Lalli was 3 for 4 with a double. He had one run batted in.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennesse Smokies hosted the Southern League All-Star Game, which was won by the South, 6-2. (Tennessee is in the Northern Division)

Five Smokies played tonight. Jim Adduci was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI single. DH Justin Bour was 1 for 3 with a walk.

Kevin Rhoderick pitched a scoreless inning without allowing a hit. He did walk one but didn't strike anyone out.

Alberto Cabrera pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed an inherited runner to score with a wild pitch. He walked one but allowed no hits. Frank Batista retired both batters he faced with a fly out and a ground out.

Daytona Cubs

The Daytona Cubs were driven into the sea by the Tampa Yankees, 4-2.

Starter Matt Loosen went six innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. One of the four runs was unearned. Loosen walked only one and struck out five.

The Daytona bullpen was perfect tonight as Joe Zellar, Jeff Lorick and Scott Weismann each pitched a perfect inning.

Shortstop Arismendy Alcantara was 3 for 4 with a double and a walk. First baseman Taylor Davis was 2 for 3 with a walk and an RBI.

Peoria Chiefs

The East All-Stars crushed the West All-Stars, 18-2. (Peoria is in the West.)

Kyler Burke did not have a good all-star game. He allowed five runs on three hits and three walks over two-thirds of an inning. He did not have a strikeout.

Paul Hoilman was 0 for 2 and Zeke DeVoss went 0 for 1.

Boise Hawks

The Boise Hawks lost to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Giants), 4-1.

Starting pitching for Boise has still been very strong. Tonight Willengton Cruz allowed only one unearned run over five innings. Cruz was touched for three hits. He walked two and struck out six.

Felix Pena pitched the final three innings and took the loss. He allowed three runs on three hits, although only one of the three runs were earned. Pena walked two and struck out two.

Catcher Willson Contreras went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. He also was 2 for 2 gunning down runners trying to steal.

Shortstop Marco Hernandez went 2 for 4 and scored the lone Hawks run. Left fielder Dong-Yub Kim was 2 for 4.

Home opener versus Eugene tomorrow night.
