I don't really even know what to say any more in these game previews, especially for road games. The Cubs are:
- 1-5 on this road trip
- 17-47 on the road this year
- 4-11 this month
- Locked in a fierce battle with the 48-73 Rockies for second place in the reverse standings
What else is there? The countdown to 100 losses, which appears almost certain at this point? Maybe Travis Wood will pitch the game of his life this afternoon. (Somehow, I doubt it.) Hey, it's baseball. We'll miss it this winter when it's not here. That's about all I've got. Enjoy the game.
Cubs lineup:
DeJesus LF, Valbuena 3B, Castro SS, Rizzo 1B, LaHair RF, Clevenger C, Jackson CF, Barney 2B, Wood P
Brewers lineup:
Aoki RF, Weeks 2B, Braun LF, Ramirez 3B, Hart 1B, Maldonado C, Gomez CF, Ransom SS, Gallardo P

Travis Wood has not faced the Brewers this year. He faced them three times last year, two starts and a relief appearance, and did pretty well: 2.51 ERA in 14⅓ total innings. That was a much different Brewers team than the one on the field now, though; current Brewers are hitting just .182 (10-for-55) against Wood with two home runs (Carlos Gomez and Rickie Weeks). Maybe we're not doomed today.
Yovani Gallardo has two starts vs. the Cubs this year. The one at Wrigley Field was good, and the one at Miller Park, not so much. Current Cubs are hitting .276 (21-for-76) against him with two home runs (Bryan LaHair and Alfonso Soriano). Hm. Perhaps doom is not in the cards after all.
Today's game is on WGN.

Today's first pitch thread will post at 1:10 p.m. CDT and the overflows at 2:10, 3:10 and 3:55 p.m. CDT. If you need more overflows due to extra innings or rain delays, post them in the fanshot section. Also please note: due to some under-the-hood changes, the sidebar box with the game thread links is no longer available. It seems you've found them with no problems, but if you haven't been able to find the overflow threads, click the "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" link under "Sections" on the left sidebar. They're all in there.
