Want To 'Meet The Cubs'? Head To Kane County

Some Cubs player development executives will meet with fans next month at an event at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, home of the Cubs' new Midwest League affiliate, the Kane County Cougars.

The thought of driving from the North Side of Chicago to Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva on a Friday evening during rush hour terrifies me.

But if you live closer to the home of the Kane County Cougars and want to meet some Cubs baseball executives in a hot-stove event, here's the details. The Cougars are hosting "Meet The Cubs" on Friday, February 1 at 6 p.m. in the SuperSuite at their ballpark; scheduled speakers include Senior VP of Scouting & Player Development Jason McLeod, Cubs Director of Player Development Brandon Hyde, and Cougars manager Mark Johnson.

So if you'd like to hear some talk about the future from those in charge of bringing it to us, this might be a fun event to attend. It's not free -- cost is $60 -- but for that you will get an all-you-can-eat buffet, draft beer and a question-and-answer session with the evening’s guest speakers. The Cougars also say that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to JDRF, in honor of the late Cubs Hall of Famer Ron Santo.

You can buy tickets to this event by calling (630) 232-8811 or at this link on the Cougars website.

If you do decide to go to this event, please either send me some notes on what happens so I can write it up -- you'll get credit -- or make a FanPost yourself.
