The other day, Josh wrote about reasons for Cubs fans to root for, or not root for, every AL playoff team.
My reason for who I'm rooting for in this game are much simpler. The Rays have had six straight winning seasons and made the postseason in four of them. The Indians, in that same time frame, have one winning season (this year) and three years of 90+ losses.
Time to give someone else a turn. Go Tribe!

Today's Starting Pitchers
|2013 - Alex Cobb||11-3||22||22||1||0||0||0||143.1||120||46||44||13||45||134||2.76||1.15|
|2013 - Danny Salazar||2-3||10||10||0||0||0||0||52.0||44||18||18||7||15||65||3.12||1.13|
Alex Cobb has had a very good season in his second full big-league year, though he also spent some time on the DL. His last three starts, all in key stretch games the Rays needed to win, produced a 1.16 ERA and 0.814 WHIP and he went at least seven innings in all three starts. (Hint: these are the kinds of pitchers the Cubs will need to get back to the postseason.)
I follow MLB quite closely. I must confess, until I saw the matchup for this game, I had never heard of Danny Salazar. He made 10 starts for the Tribe in this, his rookie season, and did a decent job -- some starts were quite short, others very good. He has never faced the Rays nor anyone on their roster. If this were the Cubs, you'd know what would happen. Maybe it'll be different for Tampa Bay.
Today's game is on TBS. Announcers: Brian Anderson, Joe Simpson and John Smoltz. Field reporter: Rachel Nichols.
