Did you know the Red Sox had a mascot? I didn't, either. That's "Wally". What exactly is he? A Sock? A... well, you decide. And thank heavens the Cubs don't have one. They are one of four teams that don't (Yankees, Dodgers and Angels are the others, and no, the Angels' Rally Monkey doesn't count.)
From Game 1: Ryan Dempster finally gets into the World Series after 16 years and 2,387 regular-season innings (ninth-most among pitchers active in 2013), and what does he do? Blow his team's shutout. Nice work, Demp.
The Red Sox dominated the Cardinals in Game 1, and St. Louis looked like a minor-league team for the first two innings. It would be easy to say Boston will sweep this series, but the Cardinals are a good team. Really, all I'd like to see is close, competitive games and a seven-game series (not won by the Cardinals). We've only had five seven-game World Series in the last 15 years.
Game 2 time: 7 p.m. CT. TV: Fox. Announcers: Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, Ken Rosenthal, Erin Andrews. Red Sox lead series 1-0.
