The 2013 baseball season is over, but you can still get your baseball on TV fix by watching an Arizona Fall League game every day for the rest of this week.
Tonight, it'll involve Cubs prospects Kris Bryant, Albert Almora and Jorge Soler as the Mesa Solar Sox take on the Salt River Rafters at Talking Stick.
The reason for all this televised baseball is for Major League Baseball to test out the proposed replay-review system that they're planning on instituting in 2014. They'll have to hope there will be some plays that need review -- it would be truly unfortunate if all five of these games had nothing reviewable. That's probably why they're doing five of them, so they have enough play to get reviewable plays.
I'll post a game thread for each of the five games; I'm sure there's enough interest in tonight's game, given that Cubs prospects are involved. Game time is 8 p.m. CT and it's on MLB Network.
The good news is that the starting pitcher for Mesa tonight is Dallas Beeler of the Tennessee Smokies. He'll be opposed by Cardinals farmhand Sam Gaviglio. The bad news is that Kris Bryant is starting the game on the bench.
The lineups are for Mesa
Albert Almora CF, Tyler Collins RF, Jorge Soler DH, C.J. Cron, 1B, Matt Skole 3B, Devon Travis 2B, Zach Borenstein LF, Adrian Nieto C, Dixon Machado SS
For Salt River:
James Ramsey CF, Andy Burns DH, Jake Lamb 3B, Stephen Piscotty RF, Kyle Parker 1B, Tim Wheeler LF, Nick Ahmed SS, Jacob Wilson 2B, Dustin Garneau C
If you don't have MLB Network or can't be near a TV, this Gameday link should work. Enjoy, and discuss amongst yourselves.
