MLB Bullets Is Not Planning On Retiring

• Neither does Scott Rolen, although he doesn't currently have a team. The Reds probably don't have the budget to sign him, says John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. His best bet is probably the Dodgers, who are making a sequel to the Richard Pryor/John Candy film "Brewster's Millions."
• It's time to talk about what to do about the Tampa Bay Rays. The Tampa Tribune admits they're biased, but the best place for them is downtown Tampa. The land in St. Petersburg where Tropicana Field currently is located would be more productive and profitable being put to other uses.
• The Marlins have had a terrible past twelve months and are in big need of some good news. So what's their plan? Hire a new PR firm, of course. There's no need to put a better product on the field, they just need someone to explain the crap better. Ladies and gentlemen, you can't beat American ingenuity.
• Ken Rosenthal is all for tougher penalties for PEDs, but he doesn't think that will be any sort of deterrence.
• Michael Schmidt of the New York Times says that being able to cut deals with PED users were the key to cleaning up cycling, and that baseball is hamstrung by an inability to do the same. As of now, suspended players have no incentive to cooperate with authorities.

• Tracee Hamilton of the Washington Post thinks the Nationals' age of innocence is over. From now on, they'll be expected to win, not just show up. I don't know, success has never raised expectations with the Marlins.
