Official BCB Fantasy Baseball League Update

The teams are set for the first Official BCB Fantasy League. Even if you didn't get in, there's still time to start your own Yahoo! league and have fun this season.

Jonathan Daniel

Two weeks ago I told you that Yahoo! is sponsoring an "Official" BCB Fantasy Baseball League. The group filled up quickly and I'm sorry about all of those who did not get a chance to join the league. Maybe if Yahoo! wants to do this again next year, I'll pick the owners through a lottery or something. But of course, that doesn't mean that you can't start your own BCB Fantasy Baseball League through Yahoo! and have just as much fun.

We've set our draft time, which is March 10 and our draft order. There are sixteen of us and the first pick goes to the team that has renamed itself "I'm Picking Fat Trout" so I think we have a pretty good idea who he's going to take. "Nunya's Knothead's" gets the 16th and 17th pick, and its really a matter of personal preference whether you want the first and 32nd pick or going last and picking 16th and 17th. My personal preference is for my first pick to be somewhere between 2nd and 5th, so my team, "Spalding's Orphans," was disappointed to get the tenth and 23rd pick. But last time I had the first pick in a draft, I took Carl Crawford, so I'm glad I'm not picking first.

In any case, the league is not private, so anyone can follow along at this link.

That's the official line, so I'll interpret. Yahoo! is the biggest fantasy game on the 'net with the most players. I haven't had any problems using the interface, so that's good. I was able to create the league and change the settings without any problems. You can keep track of your team with real-time updates on your computer or mobile device. I especially like the iPhone app. There's a lot of expert help if you want it, or you can ignore it if you don't. And personally, I just find that Yahoo! loads faster on my computer than some other sites (and yes, I do play on other sites in other leagues, although not by my choice) although your mileage may vary.

So if you get a chance check out the Official BCB league and think about starting your own Yahoo! league. And be sure to check in after March 10 to see who you think had the best draft. Plus, with sixteen teams, I'm betting someone ends up with Luis Valbuena, so you'll want to check in to see who gets him.
