The Boise Hawks tripped the Hillsboro Hops (Diamondbacks), 3-0.

Starter James Pugliese dominated Hillsboro for six innings. He gave up only two hits, both singles, which were the only two baserunners he allowed. He struck out six.

Trey Masek got his first professional win with two innings of relief without allowing a hit. Masek walked two and struck out three.

Matt Iannazzo pitched the ninth inning and got his fourth save. He allowed one single, but struck out the other three batters he faced.

This game was scoreless heading into the top of the ninth when shortstop Carlos Penalver doubled home catcher Lance Rymel. Then second baseman Danny Lockhart laid down a perfect bunt single squeeze, scoring Penalver who had gone to third on a wild pitch. A fielder's choice by Trevor Gretzky scored Shawon Dunston with the final run.

Penalver went 1 for 3. Rymel was 2 for 3 with a walk to start the ninth inning. Lockhart was 2 for 5. Gretzky was 0 for 3 and Dunston was 1 for 4 with a walk and a stolen base.

The win kept Boise's slim first-half title hopes alive and evened their record at 16-16.
