Last winter, BCB's Tim Huwe presented an interesting concept, the "mock game thread." Deep into the winter, it's always nice to feel like it's spring, so we're going to do it again.
To refresh your memory, here's how it works. Tim picked a game from Cubs history, and then substituted players from the 2014 rosters of the teams he's chosen to make a "current" game thread. He'll then do the play-by-play, as it happened during that past game, using the current players. Then you do game thread commentary, just as you would during the regular season.
This post is to give you a heads-up on the way it'll work, described above, and the time of the game. Since 1:20 is an iconic Cubs starting time, the "first pitch" will be thrown at 1:20 p.m. CT this Sunday, January 12. The post will go up here at BCB at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, so you can have a few minutes to peruse the lineups and settle in.
Here's one of the mock game threads from last winter, a Cubs/Cardinals game, so you can take a look back and see how it was done.
So, stop on by this Sunday, and enjoy some baseball play-by-play!
