Welcome to the next in a series of semi-dramatic re-creations of historic Cubs games.

Today, the Cubs will face the San Francisco Giants in whatever venue you wish the game to be being played. Be it Candlestick, AT&T Park, Seals Stadium, or Kezar Stadium, Any of them would work. And, since this is theatre of the mind, encouraged.

Despite the game being played in San Francisco, the game will start at 1:20 p.m. CT, the traditional time for a tilt in Wrigley Field. All players on the rosters will be eligible. Today's starting pitcher for the traveling Cubs will be righty Jeff Samardzija. He lobbied for this start, as he really wants to remain a Cub. There was thought that Masahiro Tanaka might get the ball today, but that silly technicality of him not being a Cub (yet) squashed that.

The Giants counter with Tim Lincecum. While some might think Matt Cain would be the right call, or Madison Bumgarner with the Cubs' left-handed outfield options, Lincecum "needs to start earning his money even though it's only January" was the fiery comment from an un-named source with the club.

Pull up a chair, enjoy an Old Sty...... Anheuser-Busch adult beverage of your choice, and remember that spring training starts next month.

That is no fantasy.
