2014 N.L.C.S Game 5: Cardinals vs. Giants, Thursday 10/16, 7 p.m. CT

One more game like Wednesday's and the Cardinals can go home and watch the World Series on TV with the rest of us.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

One bit of information posted during Wednesday night's Giants win over the Cardinals is probably all we need to know about St. Louis' chances: the Cardinals have gone down three games to one in a playoff series four times prior to this year. They have never come back from such a deficit.

Of course, every season is different and those results don't predict this year's series. However, this year's Cardinals look like a defeated bunch, making critical fielding errors and blowing leads.

I told you, when the Cardinals were on the verge of clinching the N.L. Central title, that it would be much more fun to watch them lose in the playoffs. Given the meltdowns that some of you have found from Cardinal fans on Twitter, I think that statement has turned out to be true.

The only bad thing about a Giants win today is that we'll have no baseball until Tuesday if that happens. But I can live with that to send the so-called "Best Fans In Baseball" home for the winter.

Both teams will go back to their Game 1 starters, their aces, for Game 5.

Here's all the info you'll need for today's game.
