When BCB's David Sameshima visited Wrigley Field on Saturday, there wasn't much activity going on, except for some power tool and hammering noise he heard going on behind the home plate area.
Nevertheless, here are photos taken around the ballpark Saturday -- David was actually happy it was a cloudy day, because that's better for photography, not having to deal with the sun. There is large machinery now in place on Waveland Avenue, apparently getting ready to lay the foundation for the new bleachers. We've also got photos today looking inside the concourse near Gate K, of the triangle lot, of all the various heavy equipment that's in the area waiting for construction to start, and another view inside the park from the Sheffield side.
It appeared that power might have been off on the marquee Friday, but David says that wasn't the case Saturday, even though there still wasn't any message on the electronic board. You can see in the marquee photo that the neon lights were turned on.
We'll have more photos here tomorrow.
