BCB's David Sameshima got another opportunity, somewhat unexpected, to take photos from a Wrigleyville rooftop Tuesday afternoon.
Here are 16 photos from that rooftop. What's most interesting to me, beyond the views that you can't get anywhere else, is how green the turf looks -- apparently, new sod was laid at Wrigley Field within the last few days.
David told me that his rooftop visit wasn't planned, but just came about while he was at the ballpark. This time, it happened to be when the right-field patio was being brought down. So, for those of you who said that part of the bleachers was coming down when I said I thought it might stay, you were right. However, I do believe that it will be rebuilt essentially the way it was -- because when I was at Wrigley for the groundbreaking ceremony, I noticed that the LED board in front of the patio had been removed, presumably for storage and replacement.
Also, as noted in the comments the other day, the right-field patio was built for the 2012 season, several years after the bleacher reconstruction of 2005-06; that might be why it had to be demolished separately.
We'll have more photos, hopefully tomorrow.
