BCB's David Sameshima headed back to Wrigley Field Monday as the weather warmed up a bit and filed this report:
There was barely a light mist during my visit -- the kind where you really don't get wet. When I arrived, I spotted one of those tall drill-type machines on Sheffield. When I got closer, I saw that it was only parked there and did not appear to be working on Sheffield. What I did see is another possible utility excavation on Sheffield, located approximately mid block.Around the corner on Waveland, it was busy. They were working behind the center-field bleachers. At the job site gate on the west side of Waveland, there was just a lot of traffic congestion, a mini ballet with vehicles moving forward and backing up to allow different vehicles to pass through the gate. This is why I did not attempt to walk up to the fence along the Red Lot to take photos. There were trucks moving back and forth along Waveland to allow other equipment to pass. The street sweeping truck was also making repeated passes to keep the Waveland Ave clean.I did see work going on along the south side of the ballpark, in the upper deck, opposite the auto repair shop. This is the first time I had noticed any work along this side.
We should have some more photos here tomorrow.
