Ryan Dempster Joins MLB Network

The former Cubs pitcher is becoming a TV analyst.

Many of us noted Ryan Dempster's ability to be glib, funny and clever when giving interviews, during his time with the Cubs.

Now, he's taking his talents to cable television. From a MLB Network press release:

MLB Network today announced that veteran MLB pitcher Ryan Dempster has joined its roster of on-air talent as an analyst. A frequent guest on MLB Tonight and Intentional Talk with Chris Rose and Kevin Millar, Dempster will appear across MLB Network’s studio programming and make his debut tomorrow, April 23 live from Wrigley Field’s 100th anniversary celebration during High Heat with Christopher Russo at 1:00 p.m. ET and Intentional Talk at 5:00 p.m. ET.

I imagine this could lead in to Dempster being a game analyst, or studio analyst, for MLB Network in the future. I'd have loved to see him with some role with the Cubs organization after his playing days were done, and perhaps that's still possible.

But starting Wednesday, you'll be able to see Dempster on MLB Network. He's the second member of the 2007-08 Cubs division champions to join the channel, after Mark DeRosa.
