Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 39

60 percent of the time, walks will come back to haunt you. Every time.

Jeff Curry

Giving up singles up the middle to the opposing pitcher won't help, either.

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Starlin Castro. The two-run homer kept it close for most of the game.
  • Hero - Luis Valbuena. 2-for-3 and had the walk to load the bases in the eighth. If only it could have led to more.
  • Sidekick - Anthony Rizzo. Beater of shifts! #endtheshifting

THE THREE GOATS:

  • Big Goat - Jason Hammel. Giving up a four-spot early will generally land you here.
  • Goat - Nate Schierholtz. Four words he knows all too well:  Ground ball to second.
  • Kid - Emilio Bonifacio. Not a good day for Boni, going 0-for-5. At least the bases were always empty when he came to the plate. I wonder why...
