Wesley Wright On Paternity Leave; Cubs Recall Blake Parker

Congratulations to Wesley Wright and his wife on their new addition to their family.

Via press release from the Cubs:

The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Blake Parker from Triple-A Iowa while left-handed pitcher Wesley Wright has been placed on the paternity leave list.

I believe, though I am not certain, that this is the first time a Cubs player has been placed on the paternity list since it became part of the CBA three years ago. The list is a way for players to take up to three days to be with their wives when they give birth.

So, again, congrats to the Wright family, and Parker will be with the Cubs for a couple of days. Since the Cubs are off Thursday, it would seem that Wright will rejoin them in Milwaukee Friday for the start of a three-game series.

After a slow start, Wright pitched quite well in May and overall has allowed six runs in 17 innings in 18 appearances (3.18 ERA, 1.235 WHIP, six walks, 14 strikeouts). Parker has been up and down a couple of times from Iowa, and allowed five hits and three earned runs in two appearances covering 1⅔ innings.

Just a bit of news before the game begins tonight.
