News from the Cubs:
#Cubs announce Hector Rondon is going on paternity list and Pedro Strop will be activated from DL
— Carrie Muskat (@CarrieMuskat) May 30, 2014
Congratulations to the Rondon family on their new arrival. Strop will, presumably, take over as closer while Rondon is away. It'll be interesting to see what happens with that role once Rondon returns to the team -- aside from one blown save, he's done a good job. On the other hand, Strop was next in line after Jose Veras failed in the role.
The three days that are allowed for paternity leave will cover the Brewers series, so the Cubs will have to make another roster move to return Rondon to the active roster for Tuesday's game at Wrigley Field with the Mets. Maybe that'll be the time we'll actually see them go back to 13 position players and 12 pitchers, which would give manager Rick Renteria more flexibility.
I know you'll have something to say about that, so have at it.
