Pedro Strop's groin strain is apparently fairly serious:
#Cubs Strop to DL. Right groin strain. 3-4 Weeks. Rosscup back up
— Bruce Miles (@BruceMiles2112) May 7, 2014
Zac Rosscup has been up and down twice now, appearing in just two games, the second game of the doubleheader against the Yankees, and in a loss to the Reds April 29. (It should be noted that even though Rosscup has spent most of the last two weeks at Triple-A Iowa, that's just one fewer game than James Russell has appeared in during that time span.) Pitcher for pitcher. 13 pitchers still on the staff, leaving the bench short -- again. How long will this go on? Granted, during the two games with the White Sox an extra bench player isn't necessarily a big deal.
However, I'd definitely like to see an additional bench player added for the series coming up at Atlanta and St. Louis.
In Strop's absence, I'm guessing that Justin Grimm and Neil Ramirez will take over setup duties -- that is, when there are any.
