The Kane County Cougars took two of the three games I saw them play against the Lansing Lugnuts at Cooley Law School Stadium in Lansing, Michigan last week.
The ballpark is 18 years old, but still has modern amenities such as suites and a "clubhouse" that serves sandwiches and drinks at an indoor bar while also providing outdoor seating. After this year the park will have an extensive renovation which will include 80 apartments overlooking the field; you can see renderings of the renovation plan here.
The park has about 7,500 permanent seats and can seat up to 6,000 more on large outfield berms. Here's some more detail on the stadium's history.
As I wrote in the recaps to the three-game set, there are some very impressive prospects playing for Kane County this year, reflected in their won-lost record, which stands (as of Monday morning) at 29 games over .500 for the full season. The Cougars have already qualified for the Midwest League playoffs by winning the first-half Western Division title; this will provide valuable postseason experience for the players.
Some of these players, hopefully, will be playing for the major-league Cubs in three years or so (remember, the Midwest League is four levels below the big leagues). Hope you enjoy this photo gallery.
