It was unfortunate that the Cubs lost, but to be honest I'm glad that the game didn't go any longer than 10 innings. I don't think I could handle another night of short sleep. I'm selfish, I know.

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.
THE THREE HEROES:
- Superhero - Luis Valbuena (.461). Just how many game-changing homers can one guy hit in a month?
- Hero - Ryan Sweeney (.178). His first three-hit game since September 24, 2013.
- Sidekick - Hector Rondon (.134). Successfully worked through a non-save situation.
THE THREE GOATS:
- Billy Goat - Wesley Wright (-.413). The walks were a bad start. The hits and wild pitch were an even worse finish.
- Goat - Travis Wood (-.188). Once he got past the second inning, he looked really darn good. Unfortunately, the first two innings still count.
- Kid - Junior Lake (-.180). From the World of Ugly Statistics: He's now 4-for-41 in July.
UPDATED RANKINGS THROUGH GAME 106 (Changes in Bold, Notations Below):
x - Player not on 25-man roster.
y - Player not on 40-man roster.
z - Player no longer with Cubs.
