If you haven't heard, Dan Straily is being assigned to Iowa, Addison Russell to Tennessee and Billy McKinney to Daytona.
Jorge Soler is back in Tennessee, although he hasn't been activated off the DL yet.
Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs were edged by the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Astros), 3-2.
Carlos Pimentel started tonight's game and took the loss after he allowed three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked three.
Iowa scored two runs in the first inning on an RBI double by Javier Baez and an RBI single by Kris Bryant. The entire team got two more hits the rest of the game.
Second baseman Arismendy Alcantara was 1 for 2 with two walks and a stolen base. He scored on Baez's double.
Tennessee Smokies
The Tennessee Smokies were defenestrated by the Birmingham Barons (White Sox), 13-3.
Rough start tonight for Matt Loosen, who gave up nine runs, seven earned, on six hits in only 3.1 innings. Loosen walked three and struck out two.
The Smokies also had two runs on two hits in the first inning and only had two more hits the rest of the game. Second baseman Stephen Bruno was 1 for 4 with a walk. He had an RBI double and he scored in the first inning.
Daytona Cubs
The Daytona Cubs won a dogfight with the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 4-2.
Nathan Dorris held the Tigers in check for six scoreless innings. He allowed only one hit in that time, although he did walk four batters. He also struck out four.
Zack Godley allowed one run in the ninth inning, but got his ninth save, and second for Daytona, anyway. Godley allowed a run on three hits over 1.2 innings. He struck out one and didn't walk anyone.
Right fielder Bijan Rademacher broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run in the fourth inning, his fourth of the season. Rademacher was 1 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored.
Third baseman Wes Darvill was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.
Center fielder Albert Almora was 3 for 5 with a double. Almora is hitting .442/.478/.628 over the past ten games. He's got his batting average for the season up to .272.
Kane County Cougars
The Kane County Cougars usurped the Clinton LumberKings (Mariners), 4-0.
Duane Underwood dominated Clinton for six innings, allowing just three hits. He struck out six and walked no one as he got his third win.
Left fielder Shawon Dunston went 2 for 3 with a double and a sacrifice fly. He also scored one run.
Boise Hawks
The Boise Hawks shattered the Eugene Emeralds (Padres), 15-2.
Trevor Graham started and picked up his third win for Boise and fifth of the season overall. He went five innings and allowed two runs on four hits. Graham walked three batters and struck out eight.
Another day, another home run for Baez. Right fielder Jeffrey Baez hit a three-run home run in the third inning, his sixth of the season. Baez went 2 for 5 with two runs scored.
Later in the six-run third inning, DH Justin Marra cracked a two-run home run, which was his fourth of the season. Marra was 1 for 3 with a sacrifice fly and four RBI. He scored twice.
Center fielder Rashad Crawford went 2 for 5 with two runs. First baseman Danny Canela was 3 for 5 with a double. He had two RBI and two runs scored.
Third baseman Jesse Hodges was 2 for 5 with a double and a run scored. Left fielder Charlie White was 2 for 4 with a walk. White scored twice and batted two in.
