This isn't your normal game preview because this isn't your normal type of game.
After the Giants' successful protest of the game being called at 1:16 a.m. Wednesday, the Cubs and Giants will pick up Tuesday night's game in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Cubs leading 2-0 and Tsuyoshi Wada, the starting pitcher, due to bat -- just as shown on the scoreboard photo above.
Wada, who threw five shutout innings Tuesday before the rain, obviously isn't going to return and will be replaced by a pinch-hitter. Starlin Castro, who left for the Dominican Republic for a family emergency and might go on the bereavement list, will also be replaced. Here's the Cubs' lineup as it stood when the game was interrupted:
Coghlan LF, Baez 2B, Rizzo 1B, Castro SS, Valbuena 3B, Castillo C, Alcantara CF, Sweeney RF, Wada P
It's already been announced that Jacob Turner will take over on the mound when the Giants come to bat in the top of the sixth. Hopefully, he can give the Cubs three good innings and turn it over to Hector Rondon for the save in the ninth.
The Giants have announced that Yusmeiro Petit will take over from starter Ryan Vogelsong when the Cubs bat in the bottom of the fifth. Here's the Giants lineup as it stood when the game was interrupted:
Pagan CF, Pence RF, Posey C, Sandoval 3B, Morse LF, Duvall 1B, Arias 2B, Crawford SS, Vogelsong P
Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today. According to that link, the resumption of this game -- along with the regularly scheduled game at 7:05 CT -- will be on CSN Chicago, as well as online via MLB.tv and the usual radio/audio outlets.
Here's the MLB.com Gameday link for this game, which will pick up from the spot the game was suspended.
That should be all you need to follow along. There will be a game preview and stream (with the usual first-pitch and overflow threads) for the regularly-scheduled game at 6 p.m. CT -- unless this one goes into extra innings or is rain-delayed, in which case those might also be delayed. If there's enough time after this one ends, I'll try to get a recap posted on the front page; otherwise I'll just recap both games Friday morning. This will be the only thread for the suspended game.
