The Daytona Cubs fell to the Fort Myers Miracle (Twins), 4-2 in 11 innings. With the loss, the Miracle win the best-of-five series 3 games to 1 and wins the Florida State League Championship.
Rob Zastryzny started, but he got into trouble immediately, giving up a run in the top of the first and another in the fourth inning before exiting. Zastryzny pitched 3.1 innings and allowed two runs on six hits. He struck out three and walked one.
Jose Rosario did an amazing job keeping the Cubs in this game. He came on for Zastryzny with one out in the fourth and runners on second and third. He kept those runners from scoring and went on to pitch four full innings without allowing a hit. He did walk four while striking out five.
The Cubs tied it up by scoring a run on an Miracle error in both the fourth and sixth inning. The game stayed tied until the top of the 11th when Miracle center fielder Jason Kanzler hit a two-run home run off Stephen Perakslis. Perakslis pitched three innings and allowed two runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out one.
Daytona had trouble getting any offense going in this game, and even both of their runs scored on errors. First baseman Dan Vogelbach scored both of those runs. He was 1 for 5 with a double.
With the loss, this ends Daytona's season and their quest for back-to-back Florida State League titles.
Important: There will be no Minor League Wrap tomorrow because there will be no games. Kane County is the only team still playing and they will take on the Lake County Captains in the first game of the Midwest League Championship Series on Wednesday.
