Cubs Heroes and Goats: NLDS Game 4

There were three top players, there were three bottom players, but more importantly... the Cubs finally won a postseason series at Wrigley Field. And it was glorious.

What a night. That's all I can say.

A picture is worth a thousand words.  A moving one is worth even more.

For some reason, I feel in the mood for a donut right now...

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.

THE THREE HEROES: And on this day... the homers have it once again.

  • Superhero - Javier Baez (.315). What better way to score your first Hero podium appearance of 2015 -- yes, you read that correctly -- than with a mammoth shot to completely swing the momentum of the game.
  • Hero - Anthony Rizzo (.233). I'm pretty sure that after this homer I was completely hoarse.
  • Sidekick - Kyle Schwarber (.131). And what he did to that ball in the seventh was just... wow.

THE THREE GOATS: Today listed without comment, because everyone deserves to celebrate the first-ever postseason series win at Wrigley Field.

  • Billy Goat - Trevor Cahill (-.179).
  • Goat - Jason Hammel (-.136).
  • Kid - Miguel Montero (-.063).
