Cubs Heroes and Goats: NLCS Game 2

Three consecutive hits to start the game, including one big homer, send Jake Arrieta to the top of the Goat podium in Game 2.

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Kris Bryant (.027). When the player leading the Hero podium wins it with a .027, you know just what kind of night it was.
  • Hero - Dexter Fowler (.021). The Cubs had five hits... and four of them are on the top two steps of the podium.
  • Sidekick - Travis Wood (.019). Another impressive postseason outing, with four more strikeouts added to his tally.

THE THREE GOATS:

  • Billy Goat - Jake Arrieta (-.275). Not much you can do when Daniel Murphy golfs a low curveball just inside the right-field foul pole, but the two hits that preceded it didn't help matters either.
  • Goat - Kyle Schwarber (-.064). Wins the battle of the 0-for-4 performances thanks to leaving three runners on base.
  • Kid - Starlin Castro (-.058). Edges out Chris Coghlan in the remaining 0-for-4's thanks to leading off two innings.
