It's the last MLB Bullets of the regular season. For Monday's bullets, we'll have special hats available for sale with a limited edition playoff patch.
- The Blue Jays won the AL East for the first time since 1993. Anthony Castrovince says the Blue Jays are easy to cheer for and that they've untied an entire nation behind them.
- David Schoenfield explains why the Blue Jays are the team to beat in the American League.
- The Blue Jays had a big celebration and of course, Munenori Kawasaki stole the show.
- Grant Brisbee details why he, and everyone else, were so wrong about their preseason American League predictions.
- OK, back to the Nationals. Barry Svrluga does a great piece, getting behind the scenes with the decision to trade for Papelbon and how the Nationals collapsed in August, both on the field and in the clubhouse.
- Svrluga's piece is brutal on manager Matt Williams. The reigning NL Manager of the Year responded with "All the facts aren't out there."
- Rob Arthur breaks down the statistics and says the Nationals poor offense was the reason for their collapse.
- In "bad timing" news, Jonathan Papelbon bought a house in the Virginia days before the fight with Bryce Harper.
- Jorge L. Ortiz has some stats and observations about baseball fights.
- Dirk Hayhurst offers his take Ortiz's piece.
- Bud Norris apologized for his comments in Ortiz's piece.
- The Supreme Court is unlikely to hear the city of San Jose's appeal on the antitrust case surrounding plans for a new ballpark for the Athletics.
- Commissioner Rob Manfred said he saw no reason to extend the DH to the National League but that MLB would look at further rules changes aimed at speeding up the game.
- It's looking like Hurricane Joaquin will cause havoc on this weekend's games, with home field advantage on the line.
- That could be big, because Tim Healy thinks home field advantage could be the key to the Mets' fortunes in their series with the Dodgers.
- Will Leitch explains why the Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series.
- The Dodgers are faced with a choice to let Clayton Kershaw make one more start in an attempt to get 300 strikeouts. Michael Baumann writes about how difficult it is to have 300 strikeouts in a season and why it's such a rare feat.
- Grant Brisbee reminds Astros fans that no matter what happens the rest of the way. the Astros' 2015 season was a success.
- Meg Rowley praises bandwagon fans and encourages low-interest baseball fans to pick a team and get excited. Except the Cardinals. Rowley specifically mentions that you should not be a Cardinals bandwagon fan.
- Jeff Sullivan wonders what's wrong with Cardinals starter Michael Wacha?
- Rob Neyer wonders how good the Athletics would be if they hadn't traded away most of their best players.
- Ken Rosenthal reminds us what an amazing season Dee Gordon is having.
- Tigers manager Brad Ausmus took a lot of heat for leaving Daniel Norris in the game for a 54-pitch first inning. Matthew Trueblood explains the Tigers manager's reasoning.
- Could Twins rookie Max Kepler be the first European baseball superstar?
- A couple of pitching Giants are hanging it up. Tim Hudson left his last major league start to a large round of applause.
- Hudson was relieved by Jeremy Affeldt, who also announced his retirement yesterday. John Shea got Affeldt to talk about his decision and he recapped a special day at AT&T Park.
- You probably don't realize this, but Affeldt was one of the greatest playoff pitchers of all time. Of all pitchers with 30 or more innings in the postseason, Affeldt ranks third in ERA.
- The Red Sox plan to retain manager John Farrell for 2016.
- The Braves named John Coppolella as their new GM. Now this is some title inflation as team president John Hart makes all the big decisions, but it does put Coppolella in line to succeed the 67 year-old Hart when he retires.
- White Sox slugger Jose Abreu wants to improve his English skills this offseason so that he can be a team leader for 2016.
- The White Sox are getting new video boards for US Cellular Field. Look, ma, no lawsuits!
- Katie Barnes talks to Justine Siegal, who the A's hired as the first woman coach in organized baseball.
- Steve Berthiaume and Bob Brenly spent two minutes of a Diamondbacks broadcast mocking some sorority girls in the stands who were taking selfies. Must be something in the water in Phoenix.
- A man woke up in the Charlotte Knights ballpark hours after a beerfest, "borrowed" the Knights' mascot costume and went drinking all night in it. Something tells me you might have a problem. (h/t Baseball America)
- And finally, watch the Yankees play "Family Feud."
And tomorrow will be a better day than today, Buster.
