There's more on the entire World Series in the preview I posted a few hours ago.
Here are a few more notes on Game 1, including this New York Times article regarding some quirky and interesting connections between the two clubs.
Matt Harvey will start for the Mets. He last pitched 10 days ago, in Game 1 of the NLCS against the Cubs, where he threw seven innings, allowed two runs and struck out nine. He has never faced the Royals.
Edinson Volquez goes for the Royals. He's started three times this postseason. Two of the starts were pretty mediocre; one was excellent (ALCS Game 1 vs. the Blue Jays: six shutout innings, allowing just two hits). Current Mets are hitting .250 (24-for-96) against him with no home runs.
Oh, and one more thing. Personal kudos from me will go to the first national reporter who has Kansas City BBQ during the World Series and does not feel compelled to write (or tweet) about it.
The game is on Fox. That's your over-the-air broadcast Fox channel, so you don't need a cable or satellite subscription for this, or any other World Series game. Announcers: Joe Buck, Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci.

This will be the only thread for tonight's game. Enjoy, and discuss amongst yourselves.
