Cubs fans! it's time to get together and root on the away team on Wednesday!
What's that, you say? You're away from Chicago too? Don't fret! There are Cubs bars all over the world where you can meet with other faithful fans .
The first resource I'd try for a Cubs game watch would be the fellows at the Ivy Envy podcast. They have a list of 25-plus places from Alabama to Australia where listeners of their podcast are hosting meetups to watch the Wild Card game on Wednesday.
There were many comments on my Facebook post about this list today asking about Cubs bars in other cities, so I did a little research and compiled a short list based on some of the comments. Please, if you know of any others, leave them in the comments section of this article. Also, if you are looking to host a postseason party at a bar in your city, contact Ivy Envy and get added to their list.
I'll start with the two Cubs bars I've been to.
New York City: Kelly's Sports Bar Gerry will be serving up "Shot and a Beer" Joe Maddon specials. I've been here way too many times...
New Orleans: Milan Lounge this place isn't as much of a Cubs bar as it is the owner is a Cubs fan, But they did try to put the game on for me two years ago then found it was blacked out. Good luck trying to find the entrance, you have to be buzzed in. I'd call first.
Here are some others Cubs bars and meetups I found searching the web but have not been to. So don't blame me if it's bad...
Las Vegas: Brando's
Bridgman, MI: The Getaway Cubbie Bar
Atlanta: Wild Card meetup at The Blackbear Tavern
Phoenix: Wild Card meetup at Half Moon Sports Grill
Culver City, CA: Wild Card meetup at Rush Street
Poway, CA: Wild Card Meetup at Players Sports Bar
Cambridge, MA: Wild Card meetup at The Courtside Restaurant and Pub
Charlotte, NC: Wild Card meetup at Duckworth's Grill and Taphouse
Sacramento, CA: Wild Card meetup at Barwest
Houston, TX: Wild Card meetup at Beer Market Co.
Please add to this list in the comments. Or heck! Call a local bar in your area, turn it into a Cubs bar, and arrange your own Wild Card meetup!
I need to add this in closing: Googling "Cubs Bars" is not for the faint of heart. Be warned.
