The Cubs' roster is set for their division-series matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals, which begins at 5:45 p.m. CT Friday afternoon (or do you consider that evening)? There's one more pitcher and one fewer position player on this roster than the Cubs had for Wednesday's wild-card game at Pittsburgh. Of course they need four starting pitchers for this series, and we already know the first three. It'll be interesting to see who gets the nod if there is a Game 4. Here's the complete roster.
PITCHERS (11)
Kyle Hendricks, RHP Clayton Richard, LHP Jon Lester, LHP Travis Wood, LHP Jason Hammel, RHP Pedro Strop, RHP Jake Arrieta, RHP Justin Grimm, RHP Trevor Cahill, RHP Hector Rondon, RHP Fernando Rodney, RHP
POSITION PLAYERS (14)
David Ross Chris Coghlan Javier Baez Tommy La Stella Kyle Schwarber Starlin Castro Chris Denorfia Kris Bryant Addison Russell Dexter Fowler Austin Jackson Anthony Rizzo Miguel Montero Jorge Soler
The only surprise, to me, is that Quintin Berry won't be on the roster. I suppose Joe Maddon decided to have a more complete player on the roster as opposed to someone who really has just one skill. Austin Jackson can be a pinch-runner if needed, so could Javier Baez.
Just a few hours left till game time!
