Wrigley Field Construction Update: November 18

New, 15 comments

The deconstruction of Wrigley continues.

BCB's David Sameshima passed by Wrigley Field again Wednesday on his way to and from work.

This time, he told me he didn't have time to send me comments, but did want all of you to know that the first four photos (the daytime shots) were taken through a CTA bus window.

Also, he hasn't been able to bring his usual DSLR equipment with him on his commute, so these photos were taken with a digital pocket camera.

You can see in the photos that the complete denuding of Wrigley Field's main entrance down to its steel skeleton is nearly complete. These photos don't show it, but the ugly concrete panels that have been on parts of Wrigley's exterior since 1958 are also going to be removed in the restoration project -- I believe you'll see the ones on the west side of the park come down first, with the ones on the Addison Street side in the next phase.

We'll have more photos here soon, as David's available, or if I can make it over to the ballpark myself.
