MESA, Arizona -- Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts, Mesa Mayor John Giles, Jeff Allen from the Sloan Valve Company and other dignitaries held a brief ceremony at Sloan Park in Mesa Tuesday afternoon to rededicate the park with its new naming-rights deal.
Other executives and employees of the Cubs and a few interested local citizens watched the short ceremony; you can watch the videos below for the speeches and the unveiling of the "Sloan Park" wording on the Wrigley Field replica marquee which is located just inside the first base gate at the Cubs' spring-training ballpark, which will host its first 2015 game a week from Thursday.
As you can see, the "Sloan Park" name is branded just about everywhere around the facility, including outside on the entry gates. The field looks ready for baseball (photo 3). The club is doing quite well with ticket sales to the 15 spring games and could have several sellouts so if you're looking to get down to Mesa for any spring-training contests and you don't have tickets yet, you should get them soon. (And no, no one told me to write that.)
Nine more days until Cubs baseball!
