Cubs vs. Indians at Goodyear Preview, Tuesday 3/10, 3:05 CT

The Cubs go on the road to the West Valley.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- I'm not going to this game, for several reasons, the first of which is that I need an occasional break during spring training. Going to games on 27 straight days is just a bit too much, so I'm skipping a few of the games not played at Sloan Park. This one seemed a good one to choose, given that it's being played in Goodyear. Not that I don't like Goodyear Ballpark -- it's a perfectly fine park and the airplane boneyard behind right field is fun to look at -- but it's 41 miles from where I am. That eats up 45 to 50 minutes of driving time each way, possibly more if the game runs long and I run into rush-hour traffic. Yeah, yeah, I know, #firstworldproblems.

Thus I'll be following this one with all of you... and I might drop in on the game thread this afternoon.

Here are the particulars for today:

Cubs lineup:

La Stella DH, Lake LF, Alcantara CF, Soler RF, Baez 2B, Bryant 3B, Castillo C, Valaika 1B, Russell SS

Tommy La Stella leading off. Well... that's interesting.

Indians lineup:

Bourn CF, Kipnis DH, Raburn RF, Santana 1B, Aviles 2B, Ramirez SS, Holt LF, Urshela 3B, Hayes C

Travis Wood makes his second spring start for the Cubs this afternoon. Other Cubs pitchers scheduled: Pierce Johnson, Blake Parker, Corey Black and Joseph Ortiz.

Trevor Bauer starts for the Indians. He'll be followed by Shaun Marcum, Scott Atchison and Jeff Manship.

Today's game will be on cubs.com (audio) with Len Kasper and Mick Gillispie. The game will be available on MLB.tv -- you will be watching the Indians broadcast via Sports Time Ohio. And if you miss that and want to see the game later, it will be replayed on MLB Network at 5 a.m. CT Wednesday.

MLB.com Gameday

Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Please note that during spring training, Gameday doesn't usually go pitch-by-pitch as it does during the regular season -- usually, it will update after each at-bat.

For spring-training games, we'll have a first-pitch thread at five minutes to game time and one overflow thread, 90 minutes after game time (because I know how you all like overflow threads!). For today, that will be 3 p.m. CT and 4:30 p.m. CT. These threads will not post individually onto the front page; instead, you can find links to them in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page. They will also appear in this StoryStream™. The pitcher box and regular-season stats will return on Opening Day.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
