This seems important, via the Tribune:
The owner of a rooftop club across the street from Wrigley Field has been indicted on federal fraud charges for not paying about $600,000 owed to the Cubs as well as state and local taxing bodies, the U.S. attorney's office announced Friday. R. Marc Hamid, 46, is accused of under-reporting attendance and revenue at the Skybox on Sheffield between 2008 and 2011, according to an indictment handed down Thursday. The phony numbers meant the Cubs did not receive as much in royalty payments as they should have under the terms of the rooftop owners' agreement with the team, the indictment states.
Skybox on Sheffield is one of the clubs involved in the current rooftop lawsuit against the Cubs. This indictment, though apparently unrelated to the lawsuit, certainly won't help their case.
As always, we await further developments, including an expected ruling in the lawsuit from federal Judge Virginia Kendall.
