Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.
THE THREE HEROES:
- Superhero - Starlin Castro (.730). So, just as a reminder: Last season there was only one game in which a Cub batter had a WPA over .550. We've had three so far in 13 games this season.
- Hero - Kris Bryant (.377). Five games, five podium appearances.
- Sidekick - Hector Rondon (.181). Closed the door in fine fashion including a strikeout of Andrew McCutchen on a pitch that just wasn't fair.
THE THREE GOATS:
- Billy Goat - Brian Schlitter (-.455). Yeah... this is a problem.
- Goat - Jason Motte (-.358). Yeah... this might also be a problem.
- Kid - Chris Coghlan (-.201). Seriously. Although, in fairness, part of it is due to Kris Bryant getting thrown out at home on Coghlan's single, for which Bryant looks down from the Hero podium and says "Sorry, dude." The guy's just jinxed.
