Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 15

An unfamiliar face finds his way to the top of the Heroes and an all-too-familiar face lands back at the top of the Goats.

Wait, who's this guy at the top of the Hero podium?
Wait, who's this guy at the top of the Hero podium?
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

I know, I know; I shouldn't be so hard on Edwin Jackson. But honestly, there are still grooves in the top of the thing that fit his feet perfectly.

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Jonathan Herrera (.160). His stats may scream "meh", but the guy's been a WPA dandy so far. Yes, I know; only 15 games into the season and all that.
  • Hero - Brian Schlitter (.140). Cleaned up a huge mess in the sixth inning. Could have taken the top step if not for the double he allowed in the seventh.
  • Sidekick - Kyle Hendricks (.028). Had some nice innings in there before he ran out of gas.

THE THREE GOATS:

  • Billy Goat - Edwin Jackson (-.418). Sure, he had a little help from his friends. But he still caused a lot of it himself.
  • Goat - Phil Coke (-.142). Beaten by the defensive shift behind him.
  • Kid - Addison Russell (-.069). Bumped up to the final stair replacing Hendricks' -.076 hitting.
