Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.
THE THREE HEROES:
- Superhero (tie) - Jake Arrieta and Miguel Montero (.163). It would have been a completely different scenario had Arrieta not escaped the jam he created in the fifth. Montero shares the top spot courtesy of driving in the first two runs.
- Sidekick - Addison Russell (.135). The first Hero appearance of his career. Hopefully there will be many more to come.
THE THREE GOATS:
Once again there's a three-way bump with Jake Arrieta's -.090 hitting moved out. There have now been five bumps in 17 games, all on the Goat podium.
- Billy Goat - Jorge Soler (-.052). The slump extends to 0-for-15 in his last four games.
- Goat - Starlin Castro (-.004). He had one of those days where none of your plate appearances really had much impact one way or the other.
- Kid - Welington Castillo (+.001). The first positive Goat of the season. It's a very rare occurrence, but it's generally a sign of a good problem to have.
