Wrigley Field Construction Update: May 28

More exterior work was done on the ballpark on Thursday's off day for the team.

BCB's David Sameshima paid a visit to Wrigley Field on a beautiful Thursday morning, while the team was enjoying their off day, and filed this report on the construction:

Thursday's visit to the ballpark was in the late morning visit. As I arrived, traffic was being cleared at the corner of Addison and Sheffield. One of the large cranes on Sheffield Avenue was being moved. As it turned out, the crane was traveling clockwise around the ballpark, to relocate on Waveland Avenue.Work continues on putting up the exterior bleacher wall along Sheffield. They are still putting up the concrete block wall, but it is quickly being followed by then putting up the exterior red bricks. They appear to be moving to the next phase in enclosing the back of the left field video board. They also appear to be doing some work one section in the back row of the left field bleachers near Kenmore. There is now only one smaller unpainted section remaining, in the left field corner. At one point, I saw a construction cart enter the alley between the Blue Lot (now the Players/VIP Lot) and Clifton Avenue. It then backed up,= out of the alley. When I looked down the alley, I saw why. There was a concrete truck in the alley, working on a residential project, that was blocking the alley. This alley is normally by workers to access the area at the north end of the Blue Lot, being used by contractors.

We'll have more photos here tomorrow.
