Brian Schlitter, sent to Triple-A Iowa when Kyle Schwarber was called up to make his big-league debut, doesn't get the frequent-flyer miles to come to Cleveland with the Cubs as Zac Rosscup hits the disabled list. Instead, it'll be someone new to the Cubs:
#Cubs today recalled RHP Yoervis Medina from Triple-A Iowa and placed LHP Zac Rosscup on the 15-day D.L. with left shoulder inflammation.

Rosscup left Tuesday night's game during the middle of an at-bat, saying he couldn't get loose, and now the Cubs will be without him for at least 15 days.
Medina was acquired from the Seattle Mariners for Welington Castillo four weeks ago. In 141 relief appearances for the Mariners between 2013 and this year he posted a 2.82 ERA and 1.336 WHIP in 137 innings, with 140 strikeouts. That's good! The 75 walks he issued in those innings: not so much.
At Triple-A Iowa since the trade, Medina has posted a 4.63 ERA and 1.886 WHIP in 10 appearances covering 11⅔ innings. Once again, walks are an issue: seven walks in those 10 games. Hopefully, he'll do better than that in the big leagues. Welcome to the Cubs, Yoervis. Medina will wear uniform number 33 with the Cubs.
