Those of you predicting yesterday that Chris Denorfia might join the Cubs in Washington today -- you win! (No prizes for this, however.)
The #Cubs today activated OF Chris Denorfia off of the 15-day disabled list. OF Matt Szczur has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Since the Nationals are starting righthander Jordan Zimmermann this afternoon, Denorfia likely won't start, but it will be useful to have a better bench bat than Szczur, who, while useful, isn't as good a player as Denorfia.
Let's hope there is no further recurrence of Denorfia's hamstring issues, which first surfaced around the end of spring training. He missed the first nine games of the season and was playing quite well (9-for-21 in 12 games) when he injured the hamstring again in a game at St. Louis May 4. So he's now missed another 29 games.
He'll likely get a start or two in Detroit, either in the outfield or as DH.
