Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to derail the Round Rock Express (Rangers), 5-4.

Armando Rivero got his first win of the season with two scoreless innings of relief. He allowed one hit. Rivero struck out one and walked one.

It was another strong start for Pierce Johnson, who improved his record to 2-0 after allowing just one run on six hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked two.
P.J. Francescon got the final four outs for his 11th save. Francescon gave up one hit, a two-out double in the ninth. But he struck out the next batter to end the game. He did not walk anyone.
The Smokies got solo home runs in this game from catcher Taylor Davis and center fielder Albert Almora. Davis's came in the fourth inning and was his fourth this season. Almora's home run in the eighth was his third. Davis was 1 for 3 and Almora went 1 for 4.
Left fielder Jacob Hannemann went 2 for 4 with an RBI double in the fifth inning.
The Smokies had originally planned to play a doubleheader tonight, but the weather forecast caused them to switch the doubleheader to tomorrow.
Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Pelicans game with the Red Sox was suspended in the bottom of the fifth by lightning. The Red Sox were (and still are) leading 1-0.
South Bend Cubs
The South Bend Cubs were shut down by the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays), 5-0.
Starter Erick Leal had a no-hitter going through four innings. Then he allowed five runs on four hits in the fifth inning, including a grand slam. Leal's final line was five runs on four hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out one.
First baseman Yasiel Balaguert was 2 for 4. Catcher Gioskar Amaya went 2 for 3 and was hit by a pitch. Center fielder Rashad Crawford was 2 for 3 with a walk.
Eugene Emeralds
The Eugene Emeralds "Happ-ed" over the Hillsboro Hops (Diamondbacks), 2-1 in 11 innings.
Oscar De La Cruz turned in a strong start for the Ems, allowing just one run on four hits over six innings. Most impressively, De La Cruz struck out nine and walked nobody.
Dave Berg got his first professional win by throwing perfect ninth and tenth innings. Berg struck out two. Then Jared Cheek pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the eleventh for his first professional save. Cheek did not have a strikeout.
The Emeralds were looking at a loss, trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth. Center fielder Ian Happ walked to lead off the inning and went to second with two outs on a grounder to first. Then third baseman Blake Headley tied the game with a single to send it into extras.
In the top of the 11th, Happ led off the inning again and hit a deep home run over the 18 foot high batter's eye in dead center field. It was Happ's fourth home run of the season. Happ finished the night 2 for 3 with two walks.
Headley was 1 for 5.
Shortstop Vimael Machin was 2 for 2 with two doubles.
AZL Cubs
Trey McNutt started this game, which was the first game appearance for McNutt since August 10, 2013. The results weren't good as he allowed two runs on two hits, a walk and a hit batter in two-thirds of an inning. But the important thing here is that he pitched.
