The Cubs, after the rough weekend vs. the Phillies, have won three of their last four. Winning in Miller Park, as they did last night, is significant, as they've had a rough time there over the last few years.
The trade deadline having passed with the Cubs adding starter Dan Haren and reliever Tommy Hunter to the roster, now the business of winning games and getting back into one of the wild-card spots takes center stage.
Here are today's particulars.
Fowler CF, Schwarber C, Coghlan LF, Rizzo 1B, Bryant 3B, Soler RF, Castro SS, Hammel P, Russell 2B
Gennett 2B, Lucroy C, Braun RF, Lind 1B, Davis LF, Peterson CF, Segura SS, Herrera 3B, Jungmann P

Today's Starting Pitchers
Jason Hammel has had a rough time ever since he tweaked a hamstring July 8 against the Cardinals. His last start was particularly bad and it seemed as if he were still having leg problems. Hopefully, those are a thing of the past and he'll be fine tonight. He has made two starts against the Brewers this year, allowing five earned runs in 13 innings with 12 strikeouts.
Taylor Jungmann, the Brewers' first-round pick in 2011 (12th overall, three picks after Javier Baez) is in his first big-league season. He is making his 10th major-league start tonight, and the first nine have been pretty good: 2.14 ERA, 1.051 WHIP. He's gone at least six innings in seven of the nine starts and has allowed more than two runs just once. He has never faced the Cubs or anyone on the current roster.
Doomed? Hope not.

The 2015 Game Thread procedure has changed a bit. Here's how it will work going forward.
You'll find the game preview posted separately on the front page, two hours before game time (90 minutes for some early day games following night games).
At the same time, a StoryStream™ containing the preview will also post on the front page. The First Pitch Thread and all the overflow threads will be published in that stream, as well as the recap. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post, and at the time I write the recap I will rename the stream "Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of Week) Game Threads" so you can go back and find every thread related to that particular game.
You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread, all the overflow threads and recap in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link). They will also appear in the game's StoryStream™ as noted above.
The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at one hour, two hours and 2:45 after the scheduled game time.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
