The first-ever postgame fireworks show at Wrigley Field will follow this evening's game. According to the Cubs press release on the subject:
Fans may remain in their seats during a short intermission after the game and fireworks will be launched from various points inside the ballpark.
It should be a lot of fun. I don't know at this time whether anyone's planning on carrying the postgame fireworks on live TV -- I doubt Fox will. And the Cubs couldn't have asked for better weather, as temperatures during the day should be in the 70s, a little cooler near the lake, with clear skies.
Before all that, of course, is the much more important task of winning tonight's game.
Here are today's particulars.
Cubs lineup:
Fowler CF, Rizzo 1B, Bryant 3B, Montero C, Castro SS, Coghlan LF, Denorfia RF, Richard P, Russell 2B

Jorge Soler, apparently, not quite ready to return.
Someone wake the Marlins up and let them know there's a game tonight? Second day in a row there has been no Marlins lineup at the time I wrote this post. Please check the BCB Twitter feed for the Marlins lineup.

Clayton Richard last pitched against the Marlins in 2012 -- there's not a single player left on the Miami active roster who played for them then. The only Marlin who's faced Richard for more than three at-bats is Ichiro Suzuki (6-for-20). Here's an article from April 2014 that explains the injuries Richard had and what he's done to come back from them. This is clearly a "lightning in a bottle" type of acquisition, but who knows? It might just work.
Jarred Cosart has never faced the Cubs and the only Cub who has faced him is Miguel Montero (2-for-3). Cosart missed about six weeks earlier this year with a hand injury and this will be his first start since returning (he made one four-inning relief appearance June 26). When he faces Starlin Castro, we could call that the "Anagram Matchup," as "Cosart" and "Castro" are anagrams for each other. More silly trivia: Cosart is the only player in major-league history with the first name "Jarred," spelled that way.
Today's game is on Fox. Here is the coverage map. As you can see, Fox is doing five games today and this game has one of the smaller coverage areas, basically all of Illinois and parts of Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Florida. A reminder that if you don't live in the coverage area and have a subscription to MLB.tv or Extra Innings, you can watch via one of those services.
Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

The 2015 Game Thread procedure has changed a bit. Here's how it will work going forward.
You'll find the game preview posted separately on the front page, two hours before game time (90 minutes for some early day games following night games).
At the same time, a StoryStream™ containing the preview will also post on the front page. The First Pitch Thread and all the overflow threads will be published in that stream, as well as the recap. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post, and at the time I write the recap I will rename the stream "Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of Week) Game Threads" so you can go back and find every thread related to that particular game.
You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread, all the overflow threads and recap in the box marked "Chicago Cubs Game Threads" at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link). They will also appear in the game's StoryStream™ as noted above.
The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at one hour, two hours and 2:45 after the scheduled game time.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
