Two Sunday Cubs games in May had been listed as "TBD" for starting times on schedules released earlier this month -- May 15 vs. the Pirates at Wrigley Field and May 22 vs. the Giants in San Francisco.
ESPN announced Wednesday that the latter of these games will be carried on Sunday Night Baseball. Obviously, the Cubs have become a premier TV attraction and the game against the Giants, one of the Cubs' wild-card competitors in 2015, is an attractive matchup.
The May 15 game will now be a 1:20 CT start.
The maximum number of times that any team can appear on Sunday Night baseball in any one season is five. There are four other Sunday Cubs games currently listed as "TBD" on the 2016 schedule:
June 5 vs. Diamondbacks June 19 vs. Pirates August 14 vs. Cardinals September 25 vs. Cardinals
ESPN has scheduled all its Sundays through May 29, so it's possible they could add the June 5 game (which is at Wrigley field). The other three games feature key N.L. Central matchups and could be chosen. As the saying goes: stay tuned.
