It was a Cubs miracle of sorts — Kyle Schwarber not only being cleared to DH in the World Series, but putting together a good offensive performance despite not having played in games that mattered for more than six months.
We hope he can do the same again tonight!
In addition to Kyle being back in the lineup, Joe Maddon has a bit of a surprise for us: Kyle’s batting second. The Cubs have had Dexter Fowler, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Ben Zobrist as the 1-through-4 hitters for most of the second half and most of the postseason.
But Joe apparently wants to get Kyle as many at-bats as possible. Also, Schwarber batted second more than any other batting-order position last year: 54 times out of 59 games started, as well as five of the eight games he started in the 2015 postseason.
Joe’s hunches work more often than they don’t. Let’s hope this one works, bigtime. #LetsGo
