Cubs, Cardinals Will Be ESPN’s 2017 Season Sunday Night Opener

This is not a surprise, given the teams involved.

Here’s where the Cubs will open 2017 — on ESPN

When the 2017 Cubs schedule was released last September, the Cubs were scheduled to open the season Monday, April 3 in St. Louis with a 3:15 p.m. CT game against the Cardinals, then an off day, then two more games Wednesday, April 5 and Thursday, April 6.

That’s all been changed, and you can certainly imagine why. The Cubs are obviously a huge draw now due to winning the World Series, so ESPN has asked for this schedule to be changed so they can carry Cubs/Cardinals (a big draw regardless) for their Sunday Night Baseball opener.

The Cubs and Cardinals will now begin the 2017 season Sunday, April 2 at Busch Stadium at 7:35 p.m. CT. Monday, April 3 will be an off day, then the teams will play at 7:15 p.m. CT Tuesday, April 4 and 12:45 p.m. CT Wednesday, April 5.

Following that, the Cubs will have another off day Thursday, April 6 before they head to Milwaukee for a three-game set against the Brewers beginning Friday, April 7, and then the home opener at Wrigley Field Monday, April 10 against the Dodgers.

Here is the Cubs’ schedule for April 2017 showing the new dates. Make your plans accordingly!
