The Mesa Solar Sox, comprised of prospects from the Cubs, Indians, Marlins, Athletics and Blue Jays, will take on the Surprise Saguaros, whose prospects come from the Red Sox, Royals, Twins, Pirates and Rangers, in the Arizona Fall League championship game Saturday afternoon.

James Farris, Ryan McNeil, Stephen Perakslis, Duane Underwood Jr., Victor Caratini, Ian Happ and Eloy Jimenez were the Cubs who played for Mesa this fall. Oh, and some guy named Schwarber played a couple of games there, perhaps you’ve heard of him.

Among the Cubs prospect pitchers, only Perakslis performed well. He made six relief appearances covering 6⅓ innings and allowed three hits and a walk with six strikeouts, with no runs allowed.

Jimenez did best among Cubs prospect hitters: .255/.323/.491 in 55 at-bats, with four doubles and three home runs.

This game, being played at Scottsdale Stadium (pictured above) is being televised this afternoon on MLB Network beginning at 2 p.m. CT. I figured you’d all enjoy a game thread afternoon while you’re watching some future Cubs play.

You can find MLB Gameday for this game here.

Enjoy, and discuss amongst yourselves.
