The World Series won, I thought it would be fun to look back at the games played at Wrigley Field, Games 3, 4 and 5, on October 28, 29 and 30.
This Series is special for many reasons, not the least of which is that it's the first World Series won by the Cubs since they moved from West Side Grounds (where the 1907 and 1908 champions played) to the corner of Clark & Addison in 1916. The park, then known as Weeghman Park, was renamed Cubs Park in 1921 and dubbed Wrigley Field in honor of the team's owner in 1927.
I finally had a chance to go by Wrigley Saturday night, which is where I took the final two photos in this gallery. There were still hundreds of people walking around the ballpark, smiling, laughing, still leaving names of those who didn't make it in chalk on the walls, taking selfies... a grand scene. I've never seen anything like it.
As it is for all of you, being able to experience this just once in my lifetime will sustain me as a Cubs fan for a long, long time. Of course I hope they can do it again next year, and several times again.
But once was all I ever dreamed of. It's still glorious. Hope you enjoy the photos. I also took these three short videos Sunday, October 30, two of them overviews of the park before the game, the third of Jon Lester and David Ross warming up in the bullpen.
